The oil industry is booming, and many organizations within this market are recruiting for entry level jobs. Organizations are constantly commissioning new oil rigs and require skilled workers, as well as non skilled workers to staff these rigs. Due to the oil rigs being a riskier environment that safe jobs on land, entry level jobs within this type of environment usually pay far more than a land based job. Obviously finding these entry level jobs is quite difficult, as everybody would like to earn large salaries without having a college degree. Some of these entry level jobs actually pay over $60,000 per annum, and that is only part time work based on a roster type system. The usual roustabouts and leasehand type jobs are constantly in demand for oil rig work, and as long as you are handy with a set of tools, or can clean and assist in the kitchen, then you do not require tertiary education to land a job. Companies may test you on certain aptitudes to see whether you will fit into the oil rig industry, as the pressure is immense and physical and mental pressure can get the better of some workers. The salaries are usually larger on oil rigs mainly due to the perceived danger, but it is also due to the remoteness, and the various roster systems put in place by the employers. You can usually be off away from land for up to 6 months at a stretch, without access to your family or your loved ones.
